Tan Mom!

So, we all gasped when we found out that Patricia Krentcil of Nutley, N.J., was accused of taking her 5-year-old daughter inside a tanning bed with her, but now the leather-toned woman is going around saying she’s been offered to do some reality shows and she might accept. Horrible!

Just what the world needs… a reality show about someone who shouldn’t be famous in the first place (oh, wait… don’t we have a ton of those already?) Anyway, we are not pleased with the fact that she is promoting such a poor health decision, and we certainly find no entertainment value in her tan-ventures at all.

May has been dubbed National Melanoma/Skin Cancer Detection and Prevention month, and we hope Patricia will see the light (sans UV rays, of course…)

Let’s talk about the fashion on the show. What do you think about it so far?
Phoebe Tonkin: It’s great! I mean we have the most fabulous costume designer. Her name’s Katia, and she is amazing. You know, I think she definitely has made our characters very different in the way that we dress. I mean for Faye she’s kind of put in a lot of tight stuff because I think Faye like using her sexuality especially around guys and I think that’s kind of another one of the powers that she uses to get what she wants. But it’s also just kind of cool. I mean it’s all kind of slouchy and dark and they have lots of jewelry and lots of texture. Yeah, it’s cool that the show is kind of developing its own kind of style that kind of goes between looking witchy and also being kind of modern and what kids are really wearing at school for the moment.

How is your style either completely similar or totally different from Faye? Do you have any similarities?
Phoebe Tonkin: Yeah! There’s definitely like you know the little skirts and the ballet flats. I live in ballet flats and skirts and you know big t-shirts are my kind of go-to outfit. But I probably wear a few more colors and less jewelry. I’m a bit more simple. I kind of live in just simple…I like things that are just kind of straight. I try to be comfortable.

Who off-set are you closest to?
Phoebe Tonkin: Truly it’s such a difficult… I’m close to everyone. It’s really funny. We work like 15-hour days together and then even after that we’ll all be like, “Wanna hang out and watch a movie or go get dinner?” So, we all get along real well and I’m so fortunate because if you’re around these people every single day and you don’t get along then…it’s also like a chemistry thing cause it looks on screen like we’ve known each other since we were basically toddlers. So, the chemistry has to look real and it’s lucky that it is.

You mention you guys hang out and watch movies. Do you have a favorite place to hang out or a favorite movie to watch together?
Phoebe Tonkin: Thomas is the go-to. He’s like a walking encyclopedia of films. So, a lot of the time we end up at Thomas’ with a few different films and we just watch them and we test him on his choices.

Were you a fan of The Vampire Diaries before getting cast?
Phoebe Tonkin: I started watching Vampire Diaries just after I filmed the pilot, and it’s great. I’m up to the second season now, and it’s awesome. I know Shelley and I started watching it around the same time and we kind of like talked to each other and were like, “Wow, like, this is so cool. What an honor that we’re following this show because it is so good.” So, hopefully the people that are watching that show will like our show because The Vampire Diaries is really, really cool.

Are you Team Damon or Stefan?
Phoebe Tonkin: Damon, all the way.

How come?
Phoebe Tonkin: It’s a funny role. He has a sense of humor even though he’s so dark and gets away with doing all these bad things, but you never actually kind of judge him because the character is such a joy to watch.

Brittany Robertson–who plays witch Cassie Blake on The Secret Circle–did an interview with TeenTV where she talked about starring on an edgy Kevin Williamson show and what she thinks about witchcraft.

TeenTV: Do you think magic abilities would be cool to have or a curse?
Britt: If I had power, I don’t think that I’m the type of person who would be capable enough to know what to do with it. I think that’s similar to my character’s conflict in the show. Her biggest fear is to be out of control of her powers and to do something that she is not intending on doing. I think that that would be the scariest thing for me as well, for it to go so completely wrong and you end up hurting somebody or you end up doing something evil.

There’s a saying that goes something like this: “All good things must come to an end.” Well, color us optimistic, but we’re firm believers that when something’s truly good, an end is never in sight. And that’s exactly how we feel about The Secret Circle!

With the recent announcement by The CW confirming The Secret Circle’s cancellation, it was initially tough to see the silver lining. So many frantic questions raced through everyone’s minds: What will happen to our beloved Chance Harbor witches? Where will we turn to for a weekly dose of dark magic? What crazy mayhem would have ensued with the emergence of new Balcoin-blood witches? However, fret not fellow Circle supporters because The Secret Circle cast will continue filming amazing movies and shows, and the drama will definitely continue via the spellbinding book series!

Spoiler alert: Do not read a single sentence more unless you want to know how The Secret Circle’s first season epically ended.

OK, now that that disclaimer’s out of the way, we only have four words: John. Blackwell. Is. Dead.

Are you shocked? We fully expected to see his evil sprinkled long after the season finale. Before we start creating theories about the Balcoin hand imprints, let’s take a step back and recap all the dark drama that went down in “Family.”

So, Faye’s prom night didn’t end with Jake shirtless in her room. No, no. She was captured by witch hunters who held her hostage on the same boat where many of the Circle’s parents died. Now Eben demands one crystal in exchange for Faye, thereby preventing the Crystal Skull from forming.

Obviously the Circle is torn over what Blackwell-isms to believe, but they go ahead with the plan to form the Skull in order to save Faye. One minor detail Johnny B forgot to mention: to create the Skull, the Circle must be unbound.

Cassie and Diana agree to break their Circle – without consulting the others first – and their individual powers are restored. Faye’s able to break free from the handcuffs, but ultimately Eben overpowers her…and Melissa…and Jake, who stormed the boat to save her. Did we mention that Jake pulled her in for a passionate smooch immediately after spotting her? Fayke’s. So. On.

Meanwhile, the Balcoin trio forms the Crystal Skull and Cassie falls for its seductive power. Oh no, Cassie. That toy’s for John. He uses magic to knock Cassie and Diana unconscious, and the dark sisters wake up in the magic house, trapped inside a circle that blocks their powers. Back at the boat, witch hunters are about to burn Faye, Jake, and Melissa. that is, until Charles and Dawn save the day. Grandma Meade – yeah, she’s back and knew about Diana’s paternity all along – restored their powers, and hero-of-the-day Charles bounced the demons from Eben’s body into his own. Charles then jumped off the boat, but he didn’t die – although everyone thinks so. He’s cooked up some other plan with his mother. As for Eben, his witch hunting days are over for good. After Charles took the demons, Jake stabbed him. Peace out, Eben.

OK, here’s where John’s plan starts to backfire. The dark magic mastermind fills his daughters in on the Crystal Skull’s real purpose: to kill witches, not witch hunters. Any witch without Balcoin blood immediately starts burning from the inside out. Adam tries (extremely unsuccessfully) to take down John but Cassie’s able to suck the power – and almost the life – out of Diana to break free. Together, Cassie and Diana are able to use the skull against John, who ends up being the only witch to burn to death. How ironic.

In the end, the Circle decides that binding just isn’t for them. Diana leaves town with Grant, Adam’s given the task of destroying the Skull, and Jake gets a warning from his grandfather that the fight is far from over. Oh, really? That’s when we see Cassie and Diana’s Balcoin hand imprint becoming stronger…and the season ends with even more Balcoins coming to town. Who’s up for a family reunion?
